About Audrey
Hello everyone! Welcome to Nursing Wit and Wisdom.
My name is Audrey Friedman. I am so pleased to be able to host this site for you!
I love to help nurses find ways to stay excited about their work and understand their unique position to influence others, so they can be inspired about the impact they can make on their patients, families, community and especially each other!
I want nurses to feel excited about their work! To feel empowered, connected and inspired when they make a difference in another person’s life.

The Florence Nightingale Award
The Nursing Wit and Wisdom project was nominated for a Nightingale award in 2015.

What is the Toxicology Report?
When does an element change from being a remedy to being a poison? A toxicology report can give you clues. So many herbs, elements, medications and chemicals can be used in advantageous was to help heal, clean, and improve our lives. We have heard so many stories of substances that once were used to help, when taken in a different direction, can cause harm or even death. As a nurse, when you hear about a Toxicology Report, the first thing you might think of is the Tox Screen we do in the...
What is your ONE THING?
Nurses are experts at looking at every angle possible. Sometimes it is helpful... But sometimes it can be distracting, overwhelming and put a stop to inspiration and dreams... Every day in our patient care... we look at every angle possible... histories, admission complaints, medications to get ordered, medications to get started, physicians to call, questions to ask, lines to get in, foleys to place, who is with the patient, coordinating going to CT scan, with my other patient care, getting a...
Tell me a story about old timepieces and cookies
Dear Nightingales and Friends, How do you teach a medical or nursing concept? Are you clinically technical? Are you technical in just the right parts or do you sound like a surgical textbook? Do you tell only the good parts or only the bad parts? Do you tell all the gory details? Are you a storyteller? Are you a good storyteller? Do you tell the punch line and don't tell the story? Or do you just blurt of the facts and then wait for the storm to settle? Does your approach differ if it is...
Wisdom
Is there a "best" wisdom? If so, it comes seasoned, like fine wine... given time, experience and reflection. It sits calmly with an inner strength. It is fearless and compassionate. Ideas can be learned in a book, but true wisdom comes from spirit and... always walking in tandem with your soul. Otherwise, it is only power. 2012 Audrey Friedman

Real Reviews
Hear from the Nightingales!
I have had the pleasure to read quite a few of Audrey’s work, and they have always been enjoyable, as well as educational. Don’t miss out on a chance to read such a witty, informative, educational and memorable journey with insight only a dedicated RN could share with us.
Audrey successfully completed Vickie Milazzo Institute’s CLNC® Certification Program on March 1, 2007, and is qualified to work with trial attorneys on medical-related cases; both for plaintiff and defense. She has completed the coursework outlined in the Core for Legal Nurse Consulting textbook. The Core’s study topics can be found at http://www.legalnurse.com/products/core.
